| To assure efficient wastewater management in the future, the Vienna municipality expanded the pumping station for the Linker Donausammelkanal (Left Danube Intercepting Sewer, LDS). Two additional 10 m³/s pumps were installed in the stormwater section of the pumping station.
In July 1997, Voith Siemens Hydro was awarded the contract to supply:
- two directly coupled vertical propeller pumps
- three-phase synchronous motors with slip ring rotors
- penstocks
- 2,000 mm diameter shut-off valves
- 2,000 mm diameter check valves
In order to maintain emergency functions it was necessary to assure that work was performed in a way that the station could be set back to full operation within two hours.
The main installation work began in June 1998, the plant was recommissioned in August 1998. |
