| The HPP Grosio is of great importance due to the fact that it is the main operative center for the electrical production and output for all hydroelectric power plants of A.E.M.. It is also the central station for the remote telecontrol of all the hydroelectric power plants in Valtellina.
The hydro power plant was designed for 4 turbines right from the start. Already in 1957 and 1963, Voith Siemens Hydro delivered 3 Pelton turbines and check valves.
In April 2000, Voith Siemens Hydro won the bid for the
missing 4th unit with which the plant will reach a total output of 425 MW. The delivery comprises:
- 1 vertical axis Pelton turbine with four jets complete of spherical valve with a diameter of 1700 mm and electronic speed governor,
- 1 control, regulating and supervising system,
- 3 Pelton runner, each weighing 20 tons as spares for the existing three units, designed to improve the performance of each unit.
