| The pumped storage plant of Edolo utilizes the head created between Lake Avio and the reservoir of Edolo. The powerhouse is underground and is located on the left bank of the River Oglio; access to the powerhouse is gained through a tunnel about 800 m long with inlet in the adjacency of the inhabited area of Edolo.
Eight 140 MW reversible units are installed in the powerhouse and generate a capacity of about 1000 GWh per year. The units are connected to the lower reservoir through a circular tunnel fitted with surge tank placed about 100 m downstream of the powerhouse.
