Automation

Even the best turbine is only as good as its measurement, control, and governing system.

The basic goals of automation are the same as they were a century ago. But automation systems today are much more efficient. In addition remote control and remote operation now play a significant role in the design of power plant automation.

With the aim of providing optimal operating control Voith Siemens Hydro is applying its turbine engineering knowledge in an integrated ”turbine plus control and automation” system. The HyConControl Systems combine all plant coponents in a harmonious and efficient integrated system.

Our activities:
The integrated, optimized overall system.

  • Planning, building and installing complete automation systems for hydropower stations of any type.

  • Optimization the overall system to achieve highest availability and highest efficiency resulting in best cost-effectiveness.

  • Integration of automation systems, electrical and mechanical equipment to form a well-functioning plant. Our automation solutions cover all areas, from process interfacing to control-room equipment, including communication to regional control centres situated offside the power station.

  • Combining digital automation technology with mechanical/ hydraulic control elements, protection and excitation systems, low-voltage distribution boards and other auxiliary to form a complete, fully optimized system.

  • Combining a wealth of plant engineering know-how with experience in modern digital and network-based automation systems.

  • Complementation of standard control technology by adding optimization, diagnosis and plant management modules that are tailored to the specific hydropower needs.

  • Commissioning of the overall system, train the operating and maintenance staff, and provide after sales service.

With our HyCon system it is possible to unite seemingly contradictory requirements

  • safety and availability

  • long life and adaptability

  • proven solutions and future orientation

  • standard and flexibility.
